Social Media Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a strategic, creative, and execution-oriented Social Media Manager to lead and grow our presence across social platforms. This role is both visionary and hands-on. You’ll be responsible for developing strategy, creating content, and driving measurable growth, building audience on the social platforms themselves, driving email list subscribers consistently and driving program enrollment in support of our launch calendar. We offer psycho-education, Buddhist philosophy, meditation practice resources and supportive community in support of attachment repair, addiction recovery and deepening one’s meditation practice.

About Mettagroup 

Founded by George Haas in 2003 and named the ‘Best Online Buddhist Meditation’ by Los Angeles Magazine in 2011, Mettagroup uses Vipassana, or Insight meditation, as a way to help students live a meaningful life.

Drawing from 2500-year-old Buddhist teachings and John Bowlby's Attachment Theory, the Mettagroup techniques serve as a model of how to connect with other people, and how to be completely yourself in relationships with others and with work. We offer retreats, online courses, live group programs, live virtual workshops, a weekly podcast, a weekly Dharma talk + sit, 1.1 mentorship and a certification program for helping professionals.

Our Process

    Strategy

    • Develop and execute a cohesive social media strategy aligned with business goals and marketing calendar 

    • Identify growth opportunities across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Youtube.  

    • Stay ahead of trends and adapt strategy based on performance and platform changes

    • Align content with brand voice, offers, and audience needs

    • Prioritize engagement in aligned communities, driving strategic traffic to our lead magnets and

    Content Creation

    • Plan and produce high-quality, engaging content c(static posts, carousels, short-form video, stories, etc.) on the following platforms including 

    • Youtube 

    • Instagram 

    • LinkedIn 

    • Facebook 

    • TikTok 

    • Discord

    • Substack

    • Translate complex ideas into accessible, compelling social content

    • Collaborate on content themes aligned with launches, offers, and marketing campaigns

    • Design graphics using Canva

    Copywriting

    • Write clear, engaging, and conversion-driven captions and hooks

    • Craft messaging that speaks directly to the target audience’s needs and pain points, offering education, inspiration and info about our lead magnets and paid products/services

    • Incorporate calls-to-action that drive engagement, email sign-ups, and sales

    Video Editing for Socials

    • Edit short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Youtube, etc.) optimized for performance

    • Add captions, hooks, and visual elements to increase retention and engagement (familiarity with Artlist.io or the like, a plus)

    • Repurpose long-form content into short-form clips, optimized for the correlative platform

  • Engagement

    • Initiate engagement and convert prospects into email subscribers.

    • Reply to social media comments and questions.

    • Join relevant communities, forums and conversations to add value and build brand awareness. 

    • Manage ManyChat to drive engagement from social posts strategically into conversion funnels - driving engagement with podcast, courses, monthly programs, app, and 1.1 services.

  • Scheduling and Publishing

    • Manage and maintain a consistent posting schedule

    • Use scheduling tools to plan and automate content distribution

    • Ensure timely posting aligned with campaigns and launches

  • Metrics & Optimization

    • Track, analyze, and report on key performance metrics (engagement, reach, conversions, etc.)

    • Use data to continuously refine and improve content and strategy

    • Monitor funnel performance from social → email → sales

  • Team Collaboration

    • You will meet with Head of Marketing for strategy + project management meetings.

    • You will work cross-departmentally as needed in support of executing the social media initiatives, across customer service and product.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in meditation, coaching, wellness, mental health, psychology, or personal development spaces

  • Familiarity with launching e-learning products, apps, and client-centered services/ programs

  • 2+ years of content marketing experience, managing and growing social media accounts for a brand or business

  • Demonstrated success in audience growth, engagement, and/or conversion metrics

  • Experience with direct response marketing, a plus

  • Experience with remote contract work

  • Excellent communication and copywriting skills (English language)

  • Proactive; great follow-through and team communication

  • Strong content creation skills (graphics, video, copy)

  • Proficiency in video editing and design for social media (e.g., CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, or similar)

  • Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools

  • Solid understanding of marketing funnels and lead generation strategies, with a willingness to collaborate with Head of Marketing in aligning social content with promotional calendar and initiatives.

  • Excellent copywriting skills with a focus on clarity and conversion

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, quality analyze, and execute quickly

  • Strong alignment with our brand voice and audience
