How to Follow Your Inner Compass, Make Time for the Things You Love, and Thrive Beyond Attachment Repair

An Immersive Virtual Daylong Retreat with George Haas
Saturday, March 28th | 9am-4pm PT / 12pm-7pm ET

You’ve done the attachment repair.
What comes next?

This work isn’t just about healing attachment disturbances. We’re here to thrive, and seek a meaning in life.

And that’s where exploration comes in.

The meaningfulness of life comes from doing the things that you derive meaning or purpose from.

Sounds straightforward, right?

The reality is that, our society is really organized not around meaningfulness or purpose, but rather on the gathering of resources (which is secondary exploration).
Earning a living wage. Climbing the corporate ladder. You name it.

Most of us don’t have resources where we can just focus on
primary exploration
(gathering the meaningfulness of our lives). But we can bring intention and awareness to this, and make space for what brings us the most meaning. We’ll dive into the ‘how’ at this daylong retreat.

As we walk the path of attachment repair, the phase we move into is exploration. In this live virtual daylong retreat, we’ll focus on principles and practices to support your exploration and help you differentiate between primary and secondary exploration in your own life - striking a balance that allows you to enjoy the journey, live authentically, and thrive beyond attachment repair.

In this daylong retreat, we’ll be focusing on:

⚫️ Understand where the meaningfulness in life comes from

Uncovering this will help you identify your own inner compass and give you a roadmap to support your own exploration (especially if you weren’t encouraged to explore in early development).

⚫️ Learn primary vs. secondary exploration

Primary exploration and secondary exploration are key concepts for understanding how we pursue meaning and sustain life. They represent two distinct modes of engagement with the world, often shaped by early attachment experiences, family systems, and cultural pressures. Primary exploration is the heart of a fulfilling life, it's where true meaning arises, while secondary exploration is supportive but can dominate if unbalanced.

⚫️ Understand how to uncover your own authentic exploration

Is exploration confusing, daunting or completely new to you? If so, this retreat is designed to help you identify what lights you up, what inspires you, and what represents your purpose today. If you’re confused about primary and secondary exploration, then this retreat is for you.

⚫️ Learn the complications that impact each attachment strategy (and how to move beyond the blocks so that you can explore)

Attachment conditioning affects your capacity to explore. At this retreat, we will identify the particular attachment strategies complications that come up for each attachment strategy (anxious preoccupied, dismissive avoidant, disorganized) and determine what to do about it, so that you can more effectively explore without stalling out.

⚫️ Practice real-time meditation guided by George Haas in support your exploration

We’ll practice meditation techniques designed to establish the inner safety, encouragement and emotional regulation needed for sustainable exploration. These are techniques that you can bring into your daily life well beyond the retreat.

We’ll also dive into creative avenues of exploration in this daylong retreat.

⚫️ Understand the process of exploration (and how early childhood impacts this).

⚫️ Learn how to use photography and writing to explore the natural, organic flow of how exploration happens.

This will ground the concept of exploration in a specific type of activity, and reveal exploration in practice. These are activities where meaning arises directly from the engagement itself, not external rewards like acclaim or resources. These are common forms of primary exploration because they're accessible to most people (low barriers to entry, and no elite training needed), yet deeply meaningful as they activate the creative self, foster discernment of personal resonance, and enable authentic expression.

⚫️ An interesting way to dive deeper into exploration for visual thinkers and verbal-linguistic thinkers.

If you’re drawn to the visual and literary arts, you may love this approach to exploration.

George Haas,
Founding Teacher

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. I’m George Haas, Founding Teacher of Mettagroup, an organization committed to helping people heal their attachment injury, be more secure and live a truly meaningful life.

I had a lot of difficulties in my early life, and there was no way to get people to help me with them.

Today, my main drive in offering the Meditation x Attachment program series is simple…

It’s payback. Not the revenge-type. My mission today is to pay it forward, honoring the people who helped me save my life.

Over the last 40 years, I have accumulated this knowledge about how to heal attachment injury (through both learning and experience). My mission in this program (and at Metttagroup at large) is to share this blueprint in a distilled, manageable way so that people don’t need to go through years of confusion and suffering like I did.

Within just 150 sessions, studies show that you can go from insecure attachment to securely attached. That’s profound, swift results (we’re talking ~ 3 years). I spent most of my life (5 decades) exhaustively exploring all the wrong paths, so it’s my true honor to share what’s worked for me and hundreds of my clients, with long-lasting and life-enhancing effects.

We have to create a balance between primary and secondary exploration.

That’s a shift from the status and cultural value signalling toward the gathering of time, energy and resources that’s really oriented toward pursuing all that gives you a real sense of purpose in life.

“I'm better than I've ever been.”

“I just want to share, that it's been six years, a big journey, a big journey. But guess what? I've earned secure. Today I found out that I've earned secure. I know a lot of you won't know what that means, but some of you might. I got my attachment assessment inventory back today and I'm secure. I'm better than I've ever been.”

  • “Working with George Haas and Mettagroup was the best decision of my life. In under four years I moved from a highly disorganized attachment style to earned security. Now my days have a sense of happiness and purpose that I never thought was possible before. I’d recommend George to anyone.”

FAQs

  • Yes! If you can make it out live, we’d love to see you there. If you want to catch the replay, we’ll send it to you within 48 hours after the virtual retreat, via email.

  • Attachment theory is an understanding of the instinctual drive to seek closeness to a caregiver who will provide protection and love, as well as support the development of your natural abilities.

By understanding this system, as well as your own attachment style (as well as the attachment styles of people in your life), you’re better equipped to act in secure ways, get your needs met, set aligned boundaries, and invest time and energy in reciprocally supportive relationships. This leads to having the capacity to live a more meaningful life, and to put your energy into your authentic passions, curiosity and purpose (and less energy in volatile relationships).

  • Commonly referred to as "mindfulness," Vipassanā meditation is focused on living more peacefully, compassionately and wisely. Derived from the Theravada school of Buddhism, the techniques are widely acknowledged as effective ways to manage pain, stress, compulsiveness and are often used in conjunction with psychotherapy.

  • No. We cannot tell you what your attachment strategy is without an Adult Attachment Interview.

This retreat is designed to address different attachment strategies and support people with their exploration (and moving beyond any blocks or complications that have held them back in the past).
